Adam Gross, Sr., died at his home on High Street at 4:30 p.m. yesterday.  He had been ill with an abcess for the past six weeks and this combined with the weakness of old age stormed the citadel of life and Mr. Gross succumbed at the ripe old age of 78 years.

Mr. Gross was born in B----, Germany, in 1817, and came to this country in 1861, settling near Pittsburg.  He removed to this city in 1864, where he has since resided.  Four sons survive him, Philip and Henry of New York, Jacob, who resides north of the city, and Adam of this city.  The deceased was an employee of the Mansfield Lumber Co. for a number of years.  He was a faithful member of the German Lutheran Church, and the pastor, Rev. Beothelt, will conduct the funeral services at 3 o'clock p.m. Tuesday.
